Google’s TiSP - FREE wireless home networking

April 2nd, 2007 by Jonathan Schellack

I know I’m a day late on this, though apparently not a dollar short, since it’s free:

Check out Google TiSP — they’ve got some sweet instructions for how to set up the “service”.

Wireless broadband service from Google isn’t that surprising. Google’s acquisitions of dark fiber and other moves in the ISP field, indicate their interest in the market. There is some truth in every joke, and high-speed Internet service from Google is a possibility!

I don’t know how much truth there was in Google’s April Fool’s Day joke from last year - at least, let’s hope there wasn’t much - but you’re right - Google actually does provide the city of Mountain View, CA (home of its headquarters) with free, city-wide WiFi internet access. It also may do the same thing, along with Earthlink, in San Francisco. So who’s to know what may come after that?

Google turns everything into gold. They would be a force in ISPs.
