Our confusion occurred before I actually got an iPhone. The setup was certainly uncomplicated, except for that slash business, which was mostly just annoying (and possibly MS’s fault).

I do dislike having to use iTunes to sync with my desktop – it’s a big program and it’s a pain in the butt to only really be able to sync the iPhone with one computer. You have to jump through hoops to sync with more than one.

ActiveSync for exchange server is meant to only sync mail, cal, and contacts and it isn’t really relying on MS technologies but working with them since the corporate world is mostly MS.

Also, it took me all of 5 mins to set this up the morning of the 11th running on like 1 hour of sleep so not sure why you say it’s complicated. I did have the issue with the / or \ but I always get that mixed up so I just reversed it and was set.

It works great and really love that my cell phone and outlook contacts are all in one now, a lot easier to manage.
